An application to convert offices to a taxi office and fast food outlet have been submitted to the Council.

It is proposed that the ground floor offices of Mitre Buildings on Brook Street are converted to a taxi office and fast food outlet. This change of use would see Prestige Taxis move from its present position at Yale House on Brook Street, to the offices just metres away.

Physically there are minimal changes planned for the appearance of the building that was originally built as a public house and a brewery. However since then the buildings have largely been used for office purposes, along with warehousing and storage facilities.

The main changes planned for the building are the installation of new entrance doors and windows for the ‘North’ and ‘West elevations’. Alongside this, ramped access for wheelchair users will be provided to the entrance of both establishments.

In total there will be six car park spaces provided for the establishment, that will be used by both staff and visitors.

An accompanying Design and Access Statement says: “The new taxi office and fast food outlet will comply with the current standards of the Building Regulations in respect of access and provision of sanitary facilities.”

Back in August Wrexham.com reported on a planning application that had been placed to convert the Mitre Buildings into four self contained apartments.
