Staff and students at Rhosnesni High School have been praised by Wrexham’s MP following a visit yesterday.

In January Wrexham.com reported that the school had been removed from special measures by education inspectorate Estyn after two years. The school received high praise for it’s improvements and the high quality of education provided at the facility.

During the visit, Mr Lucas met with Head Teacher, Nicholas Harrison, and visited pupils in English, History and Geography lessons. His visit follows the recent news that the school has been taken out of special measures.

Mr Lucas said: “I wanted to go along to thank all the staff and pupils at Rhosnesni after the great news that the school has been taken out of special measures.

“There was a very positive atmosphere at the school, and it was good to talk to Mr Harrison and to hear about the progress which has been made. People have clearly been putting in a great deal of hard work, and it is only right that the inspectors at Estyn have recognised that work in their most recent report.

“Pupils in the lessons I visited were engaged and interested. I was very glad to have visited – Ysgol Rhosnesni is clearly a school which is making progress and its staff and pupils should be proud of themselves.”
