Police have said the driver of car being pursued in Wrexham overnight could have killed someone if it had not been stopped safely.

Armed response and dog units along with a National Police Air Service helicopter were brought in to assist officers in the chase which took place at around 1.30am today.

Police said the vehicle was pursued through Caia Park, Borras, Acton, Hightown ending back in Caia Park, one man was arrested.

PC Thomas Hough has thanked residents for ‘being understanding’ – in an update on Twitter tagging us @Wrexham he said:

“Thank you to all residents of @wrexham for being understating with our sirens and helicopter, we have had a pursuit which started in Caia Parc – Borras/Acton and ended up in Hightown and eventually Caia Parc again where the vehicle has decamped.”

“We have arrested the driver of the vehicle for a number of driving offences, disqualified driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug driving and possession of a bladed article, the male is currently in @NWPCustodyEast again much appreciated for your understanding.”

“My police car is now having a well-earned rest after following what can only be described as driving that would of killed someone if that pursuit was not ended safely.”

Overnight people gave their account of the incident, “Police chase straight past my house. Skidding around the roundabout. Up the hill to Hightown, came past a few times”.

Thanks to Carl for the top picture.
