A street in Rhosrobin was closed off this afternoon with reports of an ongoing incident taking place throughout the afternoon.

Shortly after 2:30pm this afternoon several people contacted Wrexham.com to say that the police helicopter had been spotted hovering above Rhosrobin and Gwersyllt, with reports police sirens could also be heard heading in that direction.

Locals say there was concern over the actions of an individual with what has been described as a ‘stand off’ between police and a person in a house.

One eyewitness described seeing over twenty police responding to an incident , with two separate eyewitnesses describing some of them as ‘armed police’.

Greg sent us the below picture of the several police cars and police tape closing the east side of the street off:

The road is Maes Hyfryd just off Rhosrobin road, with some surrounding streets being used as staging areas for more police units. There were several small crowds gathered as people looked onto watch the police stand off.

The police response is ongoing as of 5pm, when we took the above picture, however the number of units appears to have reduced and concern level lower with children again playing in the street itself.

The below video was sent to us by Daniel taken earlier this afternoon:

UPDATE: North Wales Police have released a statement saying: “Police are currently searching the Wrexham area for a man who is wanted for a number of offences.
