Plans to merge two long-standing empty retail units outside Wrexham town centre have put forward.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it has been proposed that two large retail units on Central Retail Park, Wrexham are ‘amalgamated’ together.

The properties, which were previously home to Au Naturale and PC World have been vacant for a number of years.

However the application’s accompanying Design and Access Statement notes: “The application proposals have emerged from a comprehensive assessment of the site with the client and design team, and specifically meet the proposed tenant’s requirements.”

The Design and Access Statement continues onto say that ‘following discussions with the future tenant, level access throughout the store is required’.

If the plans go ahead the ‘block work diving wall’ between the two properties would be removed and the steel frame would be adapted – along with the installation of new fire exits.

The glazed entrance doors to Unit 6 would also be removed – with Unit 5 used as the main entrance.

There would be no changes to the access to the properties as a result of the proposals.

The Design and Access Statement concludes: “This application is to amalgamate units 5&6 and to install new fire exits to the front and rear of Unit 6 while making alterations to the side elevation exit.

“The proposed alterations have to be undertaken to satisfy building regulations and the proposed tenant’s layout.

“Every effort has been made to ensure that the alterations are in-keeping with the current aesthetics of Central Retail Park.”

A decision on the proposals is expected at a later date.
