Plans for new studio flat above Wrexham fast food restaurant

Plans have been put forward which could see a flat created above a fast food restaurant on Wrexham’s High Street.

An application has been submitted to Wrexham Council in relation to the first floor of the building, which is home to Frankies Chicken and Pizza on the ground floor.

The first floor of the property is currently used for storage purposes but the proposals will see it converted into a studio flat.

Canopy roofing and an extractor flue would also be installed as part of the scheme.

In documents submitted alongside the plans, the applicants said it would be in keeping with other buildings in the city centre.

They said: “The site, situated at 7 High Street, Wrexham currently serves as a restaurant on the ground floor, with storage use at the rear and on the first floor.

“The neighbouring area boasts a diverse mix of local businesses on the ground floor, while the upper floors are predominantly reserved for more private uses.

“The primary objective of the proposed development is to transform an underutilised storage space on the first floor into a studio unit, creating a vibrant and functional area.

“In conclusion, it is believed that the proposed conversion of the first floor to a studio, installation of canopy roofing, and addition of an extractor flue at rear will bring substantial benefits to the property and the community while respecting the local context.

“We respectfully seek your approval for this development project and welcome any further discussions or modifications to address the council’s considerations.”

The proposals follow a number of similar schemes to create living space in the city centre in recent years.

A decision will be made on the application by the local authority at a later date.
