Bus pass users are being reminded that only the new concessionary travel cards can be used on buses across Wales.

It comes after the grace period came to an end on March 1st.

Transport for Wales (TfW) have confirmed that nearly all regular bus pass holders have received replacement cards since it took over the management of the reissue of all over 60s and disabled person’s bus passes last September.

In total 600,000 new-style cards have been sent out to bus users in Wales.

The company says it is now “working closely with all the bus operators to support the small minority of passengers who may present their old-style card for travel and encourage them to apply for their new card as soon as possible.”

All cards are processed “as quickly as possible” with direct contact being made with applicants where further information is needed to process their applications. Transport for Wales is also continuing to work with local authorities to process complex applications.

The new bus passes are designed to work with multi-modal travel in the future and the renewal programme is a significant milestone in delivering Transport for Wales’ vision of a fully integrated transport system that Wales can be proud of.

If you haven’t got your new bus pass yet, please apply as soon as possible at www.tfw.wales/travelcards or visit your local council.
