The issue of tackling youth unemployment in north Wales came under the spotlight at a summit convened by the Secretary of State for Wales, David Jones in Wrexham held at Yale College.

Yale College’s Rendezvous Restaurant was the venue for an audience of more than 50 stakeholders from government, local government, business bodies, local firms and employability organisations who attended the event which was the second of its kind in Wales this year.

The North Wales Jobs Summit focused on promoting youth employment in the SME sector and the support that is available for young people in Wales.

“We were delighted to provide the venue for such a prestigious event,” says Jasbir Dhesi, Principal at Yale College, “Rendezvous Restaurant is a popular centre for meetings and conferences. The event gave both employers and young people the opportunity to share their experiences and suggestions for tackling youth unemployment.”

Delegates engaged in discussions about how to offer more work experience, internships and apprenticeship opportunities to young people. The gathering also heard from young people – including Yale College students, who relayed their own experiences of finding employment.
