New Alyn Waters 5k & 10k running event in aid of Nightingale House Hospice

A new running event in aid of a Wrexham-based hospice has been announced for next month.

Alyn Waters country park will play host to the new event, which will raise vital funds for Nightingale House, on Saturday 30 March.

Runners can complete a 5k or 10k route while taking in the scenery that the country park has to offer.

The event is suitable for the whole family can take part with children able to sign up for a 1k fun run on the day.

Working in partnership with Nightingale House, Joe Cooper, Director of OutFit Personal Fitness Ltd., said: “Runners of all abilities are invited to take part in the area’s newest 5k & 10k running event at Alyn Water’s Country Park on Easter Saturday, 30 March.

“We are working with the local charity Nightingale House Hospice to bring the community a great, inclusive event for a good cause.

“It’s a chance to stretch your legs in lovely surroundings, with plenty of support from park users, staff, and the event team to ensure you have a great time out on the trails.

“The event also includes a 1km dash for children to sign up on the day, making it truly a family-friendly occasion and giving people of all ages and abilities a chance to get involved in a really positive local event.”

The run will be electronically timed with results available immediately as runners finish.

Those who take part and complete the run will receive a medal.

Refreshments are available on the event field on the Llay side of Alyn Waters, along with water stations and event goodies available to all runners.

There will be lots of fun for all the family at the event, with easter activities for children, archery, football darts, an assault course, tombola, entertainment and delicious food and drink stalls to refuel after the run.

Talking about how signing up for the running event means more than just getting active outdoors, the Events manager at Nightingale House, Elise Jackson, commented: “The Alyn Waters 5k & 10k is about making every step count, raising funds and awareness for the care provided by Nightingale House Hospice. Run with us, run for them – let every mile make a difference in the lives of those facing their toughest journey.”
