Susan Elan Jones MP has welcomed a decision by Arriva Buses Wales to have a feasibility study that will examine whether Penycae buses can be extended to Cefn Mawr and Plas Madoc.

The Clwyd South MP wrote recently to the bus company and has been working closely with local Councillor John Phillips, Penycae resident Sereena Hughes, and other local residents.

Susan Elan Jones MP said: “I’m very pleased to have supported local residents in this excellent campaign. Although these are early days, I welcome the fact that Arriva Buses Wales Company has now agreed to commission a feasibility study. I really hope the bus company will now move forward with this proposal.”

Penycae Councillor John C Phillips added: “The news of Arriva Wales conducting a feasible study on a possible extended service from Penycae to Cefn Mawr and Plas Madoc is very encouraging indeed. Although nothing is cast in stone, I’m extremely greatful to Arriva Wales for considering the request to extend the current service.

“If the service was extended, this would be highly beneficial not only to the residents of Penycae but also the surrounding communities enabling the likes of Splash Madoc, Ty Mawr country park and Tesco to be more accessible. I am also pleased that as part of a service revision undertaken by Arriva, reliability improvements are ongoing for the 3 and 4 service that serves Penycae. This is great news and I would like to thank Arriva for what they are doing to improve service reliability.”
