A man has reportedly escaped after a crane toppled over on a construction site in Wrexham Town Centre this afternoon.

The incident took place on King Street, where work is currently underway on building the new Unite the Union offices on the former TE Roberts site.

It is believed the crane toppled over shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

Allington Hughes Solicitors, who tweeted Wrexham.com the image featured above said: “It fell about 15 minutes ago, and the whole of our building shook, it was about 2 feet from smashing into a car parked at the side of the site! The guy crawled out pretty shook up!

“i think everyone out safe though, and all of the beams it was carrying seem to have avoided making any damage to anything apart from their temporary perimeter fencing.”

We have contacted North Wales Ambulance Service who confirmed they have not been called to the scene.

(Scott Davies has been in touch to say the vehicle is a ‘JCB telehandler forklift.’)
