Man Dies In Johnstown – Police Officer Injured While Trying To Help

Police have released a statement in relation to an incident in Johnstown this morning, where sadly a man has died.

Update 4:15pm: Police say all roads have now reopened.

Emergency services are in attendance at an incident on Ruabon Rd, near the Brandie Brook area of Johnstown.

Police were called to the incident at 10.19am this morning.

Superintendent Alex Goss said: “This incident is ongoing. Police officers have been in attendance trying to intervene in an attempted suicide situation involving a man in his thirties.

“All efforts were made to save the man’s life – he was taken to hospital but subsequently died.

“A police officer has sustained injuries in the incident and is receiving treatment in hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

“Emergency services will remain at the scene whilst police carry out further enquiries.

“Ruabon Road is closed in both directions in the vicinity of Moreton Inn.”
