Man arrested near Llangollen ‘in possession of air rifle, revolver and knives’ – reports he was ‘pointing rifle towards road’

Update: Further to the earlier details of the arrest by armed police near to Llangollen, more information has been released.

Cheshire Police and North Wales Police Alliance Armed Policing Unit have said armed response vehicles were deployed to Trefor ‘to reports of male with a rifle pointing it towards the road’.

They added that the man was arrested at a bus stop ‘in possession of Air Rifle, Revolver and knives’.

The arrested man is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are offering reassurance to Llangollen residents after a man was arrested earlier today.

Several police cars were seen in the area earlier today, with others apparently waiting as backup as officers responded to an incident.

North Wales Police have updated this afternoon, “Please do not be alarmed if you saw firearms officers in Llangollen earlier.

“A man has been arrested by the canal footpath and is on his way to custody after being arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.”
