‘Major Resurfacing’ Works on Mold Road Begin This Weekend

Motorists are being reminded that ‘major resurfacing works’ on the Gateway to Wrexham will start this weekend.

The extensive work on Mold Road and the surrounding areas will begin on Sunday October 9 and is expected to last five weeks.

As a result motorists are being warned of likely delays in the area.

The work will take place in six phases, with the first three working on the inbound lane of the road and the second three on the outbound.

The first phase of the work will cover the initial approach from the Plas Coch Roundabout towards the entrance of Glyndwr University. 

The second phase will cover the road running along the front of the university, while the third phase will run past the Racecourse Stadium and towards the entrance with Crispin Lane.

The fourth, fifth and sixth phases will see work take place on the same sections of the road, but in reverse order.

All phases will be carried out consecutively and every effort will be made to minimise the disruption to traffic with manually controlled traffic management being employed during the period of works, which will be restricted between 9:30am and 7:30pm for the duration of the works.

Advanced signage notifying drivers of the proposed work will be visible on the A483 and other directly affected roads.

Access to all retail businesses, Glyndwr University, Wrexham Football Club and local residences will be maintained at all times during the works.

Cllr David A. Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We know this work will impact on many people, and we will be doing everything they can to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible.

“We also wanted to start work before November to lessen the impact on town centre shops during the Christmas shopping season.

“Neighbouring residents and businesses have also been advised of the work.”
