Due to the pandemic and rules restricting traditional canvassing we have conducted a Q&A with all the candidates standing to be the next Wrexham councillor for Maesydre.

If you live in the Maesydre ward (map below) make sure you turn out to have your say. There are three ways to get your vote in:

  • In the polling station at Friend’s Meeting House, Holt Road on Thursday, March 18th
  • By postal vote  – you will need to apply by 5pm on Wednesday, March 3rd
  • By proxy vote – make sure you apply by 5pm on Wednesday, March 10th

Keep an eye out for your polling card, which will be sent out later this week.

If you decide to vote in person, the council say hand sanitiser will be available at the polling station, however, you are asked that you bring your own pen or pencil as well as your polling card (having this with you will save time but is not required). Also, you must wear face covering and maintain a 2-metre distance from other voters and staff.

If you want to vote in person, but develop any symptoms of coronavirus after March 10, call Wrexham Council on 01978 292020. If you have any other enquiries you can also contact them on [email protected].

You can make sure you are registered to vote via gov.uk/register-to-vote, and you can also apply for a postal vote via this form / process – and Wrexham Council have told us they are accepting scanned copies for those who want to have a totally hands-off digital process.

Some third parties may suggest using their forms to register to vote, or register for postal votes, but check carefully what you are opting into via that process – with Wrexham Council telling us “Applications for postal votes should only be returned to Electoral Services, The Guildhall, Wrexham, LL11 1AY. They should not be returned to any other address.”

Wrexham.com has invited candidates to give their responses to a range of questions, and you can find their answers on the below links, in the order they are listed on the formal nomination form.

All candidates were invited to send their answers to our Q&A, include a video if they wanted to, and any election leaflets or similar material.
