Two cyclists from Wrexham are preparing to cycle around Wales in just five days in aid of a local hospice.

Catrin Smith and Ben Cox will be attempting to cycle 1000 miles when they set off on Sunday 25th August.

The pair, who say they are looking forward to their challenge after months of training, will be taking on the cycling challenge to raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice.

The facility provides care for patients with life-limiting illnesses including heart failure and cancer, as well as specialist day services.

“We chose to raise money for Nightingale House as we have both experienced the loss of family members and we know how invaluable Nightingale House is in providing support for patients and their families at such a difficult and sad time,” explained Catrin.

“We have been training hard for this challenge and are looking forward to riding on roads through the stunning countryside of Wales.

“The route will pass through Snowdonia National Park and along the whole coast of Wales covering a total distance of 1000 miles with around 17,000m of climbing (the equivalent of climbing Everest twice).

“We will be carrying waterproof sleeping bags and minimal kit, so fingers crossed for good weather.”
