Two motorcyclists have been killed and five further people injured after a collision by Penyffordd.

The collision has occurred between a car and around six motorcyclists on the A5104 close to Pontblyddyn.

This afternoon we were contacted via twitter by people coming across the closed road, for example this from Stephen from Penyffordd:

North Wales Police force incident manager Inspector Gareth Jones released details of the fatal collision saying: “At 12.53pm police, ambulance and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended a report of a collision that had occurred on the A5104 between Pontblyddyn and Penyffordd.

“The incident involved a car and six motorcycles. Two riders of which sadly passed away at the scene. Five further casualties were conveyed to hospital by the Helimed and ambulance. An update is awaited on their condition.

“Officers remain on scene continuing with their investigations. The road remains closed at this time. Local diversions are in place.”

The road was reopened at 9:15pm, eight hours after the incident took place.
