A local coffee morning held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support raised £1133 in just three hours.

The event, which was organised by Gladys and friends, recently took place in Johnstown.

Over the past eight years the group have raised nearly £7,000 for charity by hosting the coffee mornings.

The event was well supported by family friends and neighbours in a great community spirit – who had the chance to take part in a raffle as well as enjoying the cakes on offer.

Johnstown councillor David A Bithell, who opened this year’s event with Gladys, said: “Macmillian Cancer Support which is close to my heart. Macmillan Cancer Support do great work supporting people both emotionally and financially at time of need.”
