Ian Lucas To Vote Against Syrian Air Strikes
Less than 24 hours on from saying he was unsure, and with the debate ongoing, local MP Ian Lucas has said will vote against UK airstrikes in Syria.
Mr Lucas was pictured on BBC Parliament earlier listening to the debate, and just after 2pm declared his mind was made up, after previously saying he was undecided.
Speaking about the vote later today, he said: “I have decided to oppose the Government motion to approve bombing in Syria.
“I am conscious of our international duty to address terrorism, and I have considered closely the requests by the French Government, the United States Government and other countries in regard of action within Syria.
“I believe that there is a legal case for taking action. However, ultimately, I do not believe that UK military action will make the situation better, and there is a very real chance it will make the situation worse within Syria.
“Having listened to the Prime Minister this morning, there is no clear strategy for UK military action within Syria, and no clear strategy to deal with the aftermath of UK military action within Syria.”
Last night a protest was held outside his office in Rhosddu:

Wrexham.com also asked readers on social media how they wished Mr Lucas to vote, with the majority against airstrikes.
A four page thread on the Wrexham.com forums has a varied response on the topic.
