Works to improve the water network across Wrexham are set to start today.

Hafren Dyfrdwy is trialling new innovative technology called Aqualiner, to reline the inside of the pipes, helping to prevent leaks and bursts to help create a reliable water supply.

The company will start the £30,000 works on Bronwylfa Road with the first phase starting on Monday 11 January for five days, then the second phase starting on February 1st 2020, with all work expected to be complete by the end of February.

Cat Webb, from Hafren Dyfrdwy says: “We’re really excited to be trialling Aqualiner in Wrexham, because if this is successful, it will help change how we work going forward.

“Over time, our pipes naturally get older and age and are more likely to cause problems. By relining the inside of the pipes, we’re making sure they’re in top condition, so they’re less likely to burst and cause problems for anyone. Using the Aqualiner method, we’re avoiding the need to dig up the whole pipe and replace it, as we’ve simply relined it so it’s as good as new.

“We’re sorry if this work does cause any disruption, but we’re hoping with this trial as it means less digging, as we simply feed the Aqualiner from one excavation to another underground,” adds Cat. “There will be some traffic management in place, but we’re hoping that with this trial we’re able to complete the work quickly, and without the need of the entire road being dug up in sections, which can take longer.

“When this work is complete, those living in Wrexham will be able to enjoy a reliable water supply, that’s seen big improvements to the network, all without the need of digging up the entire road, which is beneficial for everyone.”
