Update: There has been some confusion from people as to the timing of when the road closures are taking place.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council confirmed that the roundabout will close on the Friday evening (8pm on June 28th and July 5th) and open again on the Monday morning (6am July 1st and July 8th)

Original: Two weekend road closures have been announced ahead of the much awaited works on the Gresford Roundabout starting.

There have calls for improvements to the roundabout for sometime – with regular complaints about the lack of road clear markings and drivers constantly cutting other cars up.

The overnight resurfacing, which will begin on Friday 28th June, have been announced as part of Wrexham Council’s programme of works for the next few months.

In order to make sure the works go ahead as planned, on time and safely, the roundabout will be closed whilst the works take place between 8pm and 6am.

Wrexham Council say that businesses and residents in the area will shortly be informed by letter of the works and arrangements are in place to make sure there’s minimum disruption to them over the two weekends.

The road closures will be in place between the following dates and times:

Friday, June 28 close at 8pm and reopen on Monday, July 1 at 6am

Friday, July 5 close at 8pm and reopen on Monday, July 8 at 6am

As a result of the works there will be disruption to the No1 bus service between Wrexham and Chester – with changes to the route set to be announced.

Access to businesses within Pandy Industrial Estate and Gresford Industrial Estate will be available at all times from the B5425 Llay Road via Plas Acton Road and Bluebell Lane.

An alternative route to Wrexham Indsutrial Estate and HMP Berwyn will be signed via Junction 1 off the A483 Trunk Road.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Whilst these works will cause disruption to road users on this important and busy roundabout they are necessary and I’m sure regular users will appreciate the finished results.”
