The streets of the town centre were bustling today as crowds gathered to visit the launch of Wrexham’s Street Festival.

After months of planning behind the scenes, today the Wrexham Street Festival launched in the town centre – with children’s fairground rides, activities and stalls spanning across both Hope Street and Regent Street.

On Hope Street there were a number of events and activities for children, with fairground rides, trampolines, hook-a-duck and a giant inflatable slide (which seemed like a popular choice for many of the children visiting!)

The fun and games continued onto the top of Hope Street / Regent Street where there were a number of local stalls – including Links and Tours, Pickles and Spice, Emz Cakes and the North Wales Miners Association.

Victoria School were also on hand with a second hand book stall – and for those who fancied a snack, there was also a Hog Roast stall (which seemed to be very popular!) and a fudge stall selling some very tasty produce.

One of the more popular stalls was Glitterbugz Bodyart – which had long queues throughout the day for those who fancied having glitter tattoos.

Also on offer were several stalls selling local produce and food, home made jewellery and also Estyn wellbeing. Staff from Starbucks in Rhostyllen had also been in attendance earlier in the day handing out free samples.

Wrexham Football Club were also on hand with goodies and a raffle to win merchandise.

Elsewhere on Regent Street there was also live entertainment / dance troops performing courtesy of Bitesize Theatre Group and Dancing Shoes (pictured below)

The festival was set up and backed by a range of organisations, including Wrexham Council, the Healthy High Streets project, the Wrexham Town Centre Forum, the Co-operative, Wrexham Business Forum and many more. It follows a range of other events set up to help promote the town and to encourage people to visit Wrexham and its businesses.

So far the feedback online has been largely positive and it is hoped that the Wrexham Street Festival will become a regular event for the town centre.
