A charity ‘Snow Ball’ raising funds for local charities is to take place this week.

Hosted by Glyndŵr University Wrexham and Capital FM, the ‘Snow Ball’ will take place at Carden Park Hotel, near Chester, on Friday 27th November.

All proceeds will go to Glyndŵr Giving – which aims to boost campus investment and improve student life – and Global’s Make Some Noise campaign, raising money for Advanced Brighter Futures Wrexham.

Jemma Kinch, Fundraising and Alumni Executive at Glyndŵr University, hopes to replicate the success of the recent Big Sunday Funday, which welcomed more than 1,000 people to the University’s Plas Coch campus to garner publicity and cash for the University appeal.

Jemma has already secured businesses including data services firm Avox, Simply Mail Solutions and entrepreneur Paul Maddocks, but needs more people to sign-up ahead of the big day.

Jemma said: “Last year’s Winter Wonderland Ball was a fabulous night and raised more than £9,000 for these brilliant causes. We want to make even more this year and need people to get in touch with auction prizes, and to join us on the night.”

“We have formed a winning partnership with Capital, who have been so supportive in organising this event.”

Radio presenters Sarah Story and Ben Sheppard will be on hand throughout the night hosting proceedings – along with a sparkling wine reception, three-course meal – including drinks followed by dancing, a live band and entertainment . Visitors are also promised that there are more surprises on the way!

Capital presenters Sarah Story and Ben Sheppard, added “As the number one hit music station for Wrexham we’re thrilled to once again be working with Glyndŵr University and raising money for great causes.

“Global’s Make Some Noise raises money for those charities which don’t get heard and through working with the university we’ll be able to ensure we give a voice to these hard-working organisations.”

Up to 120 people attended the last event, which featured raffles, fundraising games and an auction of items including signed Wrexham FC and Manchester United football shirts and a commissioned painting of a building of choice, created by Glyndŵr University graduate, Charlotte May Jones.

This year’s prizes include a chainsaw carving by award-winning sculptor Simon O’Rourke, a commission drawing, an on-air radio experience and concert tickets.

Glyndŵr University Wrexham launched its new fundraising arm in 2013 to support and preserve higher education in north east Wales.

Welsh Government funding is now a very small percentage of its income as there is a new fee structure in place and the University itself is a registered charity – any money it generates is invested back into new buildings, services, research and the community.

A table for 10 guests can be purchased for £470. Individual tickets are £50. You can book tickets here or by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively, call 01978 293995.
