The front desk at the town’s new police station has reopened.

The facility had been closed for most of the morning and earlier this afternoon after a water leak at the station.

Inspector Vic Powell told Wrexham.com that the incident this morning had caused damage to ceiling tiles and part of the ground floor.

It had been thought the front of desk service would reopen to the public tomorrow, however after some speedy work from the contractors, the facility has opened after just five hours closure.

The new station – which provides a base for town centre officers – opened back in May 2019 as a replacement for the 1970s police tower on Bodhyfryd.

As a result of the leak at the station, the library next door was also temporarily evacuated.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council confirmed that the temporary closure at the library was caused by the water damage at the police station and that it has since reopened to the public.

The spokesperson also confirmed that there has been no water damage to the library as a result of the leak.
