Heading to Play Day in the town centre next month? If so you’ll be pleased to know you can park in any of the council’s town centre car parks for free on that day!

The popular event will take over Llwyn Isaf and Queens Square on Wednesday 2nd August. Promising plenty of fun and games for children of all ages, Play Day will take place between midday and 4pm.

Organisations involved in children’s play and playwork from across Wrexham will be coming together to provide a wide range of playful opportunities, including favourites like the giant sandpit, junk play and rope swings.

The event will also see the return of a very popular feature, the mass water fight, which last year saw a group of children take on officers from North Wales Police!

Thousands are expected for the afternoon of fun, with attendance for Play Day growing year on year.

For the grown-ups heading to the event, there is good news in the form of free car parking in ALL council owned car parks to coincide with the Play Day.

Similar initiatives have taken place for the event, along with occasions such as the Wrexham Food and Drink Festival and Small Business Saturday, for several years.

The free parking has proved popular and has helped attract more visitors to not only the Play Day, but to town centre shops.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “I am very pleased we have been able to offer free car parking again for this very popular town centre event.

“Play Day sees thousands of young people taking part in free activities throughout the day and I hope free car parking is a help to many parents and carers at the start of the busy summer holiday period.”

All are welcome to attend the free and playful event, which is for people of all ages including babies and toddlers, older children, teenagers, parents, professionals and grandparents!
