Wrexham Town Centre is set to become a hive of festivity tomorrow, with Santa arriving in his grotto, street entertainment, Small Business Saturday and lots of free car parking on offer!

In what is set to be one of the busiest days in the Wrexham Calendar, the town centre will tomorrow play host to three big events – the opening of Santa’s Grotto, Small Business Saturday and the Wrexham Christmas Street Festival.

Small Business Saturday has been a popular event in the USA for several years and encourages people to ‘shop local’ and support the small businesses in your local community. Small Business Saturday has managed to draw a large amount of money back into the local economy.

Across Wrexham Town Centre there are a number of events taking place to celebrate the event day, each highlighting and promoting the variety of local businesses that Wrexham has to offer. This year’s event also ties in with the Wrexham Street Festival, which also has live entertainment and music scheduled throughout the day on Hope Street.

Taking part in this year’s event is a wealth of local, homegrown businesses including – Regent house of Flowers, Saith Seren, Emz Cakes Creative Cafe, Pickles and Spice, Birlington’s Confectionary (home made fudge), Animal handling, Dominoes Pizza, Links and tours, Jen’s Irresistible Hand Made Jewellery and much, much more!

The event is scheduled to take place across Regent Street and Hope Street, however with weather forecast of gale force winds and heavy rain, the show will go on and the festival will move to the People’s Market (where there is also a Country Market taking place!)

As Wrexham.com reported earlier this week, a very special guest is taking up his December residency in the town for the next few weeks – with Santa’s Grotto opening in the People’s Market. Full details of opening times and prices can be found here.

Also on offer for shoppers tomorrow is free car parking in all council owned car parks in Wrexham Town Centre! The offer follows similar successful offers in the town centre for large events and aims to encourage visitors to the town centre.

Lead member for the Environment, Cllr David A Bithell, said: “Free parking has proved very successful in the past and has been well received by visitors and traders alike. As Christmas approaches I hope many people take advantage of the offer and also of all the town centre has to offer shoppers.”

The People’s Market car park will also offer free parking on 12th and 19th December.

Also available over the weekends leading up to Christmas is a car parking initiative at the Coleg Cambria site on Grove Park Road, offering £2 to park all day on the site. All money will also be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
