This afternoon the owners of the Fat Cat bar in Wrexham Town Centre announced its closure. The bar situated in Wrexham’s bus station development is one of several in the Fat Cat chain that includes ten other bars, however it does not appear any others are affected.

One former staff member told us “There has been a feeling this has been on the cards for a while”.

It is believed around eight people have lost their jobs due to the closure.

No one was available from the Fat Cat Group to comment, however an announcement posted on the Fat Cat site said “It is with deep regret that we have to announce the closure of The Fat Cat Café Bar Wrexham with immediate effect.”

This contrasts with the current notice posted on the bar door:

The door this afternoon indicates Fat Cat would reopen Thursday, however today’s notice on the Group’s website put pay to that.

The statement on the Fat Cat site said “We would like to thank all of our customers past and present for their custom and support since we opened in October 2003.”
