A series of events celebrating the Welsh language will take across Wrexham and Flintshire this month.

The “Welsh on Tour” campaign, which is now in its twelfth year, will take place between Tuesday 1st May and Thursday 31st May.

During the month a series of events will take place across Wrexham and Flintshire, including Messy Play for babies, Sblash a Chân taster session, Welsh disco for primary school children, a fun and song evening with Gwilym Bowen Rhys, Theatr Bara Caws new Club Show, Quiz nights and gigs at Saith Seren in Wrexham town centre.

Rhian Davies, communications officer at Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam said: “The main purpose of the campaign is to promote the Welsh language across the counties of Flintshire and Wrexham in schools, communities, and in the workplace with Welsh speakers, learners and non-Welsh speakers.

“The tour is an opportunity for the county’s language partnership to work together to raise awareness of the Welsh language and culture. There’s something for everyone.”

She added, “Our aim is to bring attention to all the things that happen locally through the medium of Welsh already, launch new things and organise a few extra special events to celebrate the lively Welsh culture and language in North East Wales.

“A lot of people have the misconception that this is a very English area, but as you can see from the Welsh on Tour 2018 calendar, there is plenty of opportunity to be out every evening of the week, if desired, socialising through the medium of Welsh.”

Further details about “Welsh on Tour” and the events taking place can be found on the Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam Facebook page. For more information or to receive a paper copy of the calendar contact Rhian on 01352 744040 or via email [email protected]
