“The man who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene.  He has been formally identified and next of kin informed.”

Last Nights Information Is Below

Emergency services are at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct this evening, including police, fire and helicopter. There are reports that they arrived before 6pm.

The spot lights seen by the Aqueduct this evening appear to have been turned off just before 9pm.

We are unsure if it is related however we were told that a fire crew had been sent to Llangollen from Deeside on standby.

The Aqueduct is 38 metres high going over the River Dee, the nearby visitors centre has recently reopened after its winter closure.
