Motorists have been left sat in severe traffic this morning, as the final phase of the a483 roadworks begins.

Currently there are long delays in place, with queuing traffic between the A483 northbound between Llay Road (Rossett) and the Posthouse Roundabout.

Motorists have reported delays of up to 20 minutes on the road, with Patrick tweeting Wrexham.com to say: “Traffic on the A483 Chester bound crazy, queuing back at least 20 minutes.”

Today sees the final stage of the £5.3m roadworks begin, which are part of a national ‘pinchpoint scheme’ have been ongoing since last September.

This stage of the roadworks will see the widening of the ‘northern quadrant’ of the roundabout upgraded to four lanes, full carriageway construction and the introduction of a new A55 exit slip arrangement.

The A55 westbound slip will also be widened, which will result in the closure of the offside lane / taking slip road down to two lane for a period of six to seven weeks.

Those who regularly commute down the A483 to Chester will have noticed that the ‘Wrexham Road Roundabout’ has been removed and work is under-way with the installation of traffic lights. A new entrance / exit onto the A483 from Pulford has also been introduced.

The roadworks are expected to be complete by March 2015.
