Fill your thermos flasks full of hot chocolate, get out some blankets and put your Santa hats on – a Christmas drive-in cinema is coming to town!

In a festive first for Wrexham, on Sunday 3rd December two iconic Christmas films will shown on a big screen in Waterworld Car Park.

This year saw the launch of a drive-in cinema at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for Valentines Day, shortly followed by a day of film classics later in the summer.

Both events sold out and due to their popularity, organisers decided to bring some festive cheer to the town centre and host Wrexham’s first Christmas drive-in cinema.

The two films which will be screened were chosen by the public via a poll on the This is Wrexham Facebook page, with everyone’s favourite ‘Elf’ and the classic ‘Home Alone’ coming out on top!

Details of the times are listed below:

Elf the Movie (PG) – 5.00pm
Home Alone (PG) – 8.15pm

Destination Manager at Wrexham Council, Joe Bickerton said: “We’re delighted to be bringing our popular drive-in movies to Wrexham Town Centre this Christmas after two previously successful events at Bangor on Dee Racecourse earlier this year.

“Both previous events were sold-out and therefore we really wanted to integrate the movie night into the exciting Wrexham Town Centre Christmas extravaganza weekend which starts with the arrival of Father Christmas on the 2nd December.

“The most difficult job for the team was choosing two films to show – but the This Is Wrexham team ran a poll on Facebook which led to Elf and Home Alone being runaway winners.

“We’re looking forward to a really successful evening and hope that visitors enjoy the shopping and free parking earlier in the day and throughout December at all Council operated car parks in town.”

Tickers are £15.00 per car (per film) in advance at www.thisiswrexham.co.uk or in person at the Wrexham Tourist Information Centre (Monday – Friday between 10am and 4pm). Tickets will be available on the evening if any remain – please check the This Is Wrexham website & Facebook page in advance of leaving. Each car will also receive a free large bag of popcorn on arrival.

Cars must have an FM radio in order to listen to the sound on the evening!
