Revellers and partygoers to Wrexham town centre are being urged to be aware of how much they drink while on a night out.

Wrexham town centre Inspector Paul Wycherley issued the warning after a series of recent incidents where the victim has been too intoxicated to remember what has happened

He said: “There have been a number of incidents over the weekend between 3am and 5am in the town, including an assault, robbery and other offences.

“On each occasion the victim has been so intoxicated that they cannot give an account of what has happened.

“We want people to report things to us. However we are conscious that people are drinking to that level of intoxication that they are exposing themselves to unnecessary harm.

“I don’t want to be a killjoy and we want people to have fun. However we should not be getting to a stage where people are drinking to a level of intoxication where they are exposing themselves to unnecessary harm.”

Insp Wycherley added that officers will be working with licensees in the town centre, however there is an ‘obligation on people not to expose themselves to that risk’.
