A planning application has been made to create a new food retail outlet on Lord Street

The proposal involves a shop unit that has been vacant for around two years, it is thought to be the old Timpsons.

The planning application for the change of use states that the shop will open 9am – 11pm, and create work for around five people with four full time staff.

A description of what the business will offer says; “This restaurant will offer a deli takeaway and small buffet service”.

The town centre carparks are mentioned in the planning application, indicating that they are considered by the new business as a probable help to the venture.

There has been recent problems reported due to the rise in car parking charges, so it is interesting to see a direct link between parking and a new business opening.
