Council Leader & Chief Executive say no harassment allegations at Council

In the light of allegations that have surfaced in Hollywood, then Westminster and on Friday in the Welsh Assembly Wrexham.com asked Wrexham Council Leader Mark Pritchard and Wrexham Council’s Chief Executive Dr Helen Paterson if they were aware of any similar allegations made in Wrexham Council since being in post.

As well as asking the Council Leader and Chief Executive if they had been made aware of anything similar, we also asked if there had been any complaints did they think they had been handled appropriately, and if there were no grievances were there robust enough processes in place to handle such complaints if ever made.

Cllr Pritchard said: “I am delighted to say we have had none in Wrexham to my knowledge, and I am pleased with that.”

“Yes I do believe, and I know, that we have robust policies and procedures in place to deal with issues and incidents if they did occur.”

Wrexham Council’s Chief Executive Dr Helen Paterson then commented, “I say exactly the same.”

Yesterday First Minister Carwyn Jones said he had ‘no choice’ but to act on ‘a number’ of allegations apparently made by women about a Deeside Assembly Member Carl Sargeant. Mr Sargeant was fired from Welsh Government on Friday – read more here.
