There is some good news for those visiting the town centre over the festive period, with Wrexham Council today confirming there will be a ban on roadworks over Christmas.

The ban is similar to the ones which have been in place over the past few years, with no roadworks taking place in and around the town centre between 4 December and 8 January.

Wrexham Council say this is to “help the traffic flow freely during the busy Christmas period”.

The plans will allow for emergency works only to take place if necessary.

The news follows the recent announcement that there will be free parking in all council owned town centre parks in December in order to boost Christmas trade for local businesses.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “We are always pleased to support the town centre and alleviate any traffic problems during the Christmas period.

“The free parking should also help encourage visitors to the town centre and we hope many take advantage of it.”
