‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. However, at the Council they let us know about a new Council Tax consultation.

They are seeking your views on the new Council Tax Reduction Scheme. The new scheme will replace the existing Council Tax Benefit Scheme from 1 April 2013.

The council says “Whilst we are seeking your views on a number of issues, the Council only has limited discretion in relation to the new Council Tax Reduction Scheme. In respect of the non-discretionary elements of the scheme, the Council has no power to change them, so in respect of questions 1 to 5 , it will forward your responses to UK & Welsh Governments for consideration.”

The Consultation Paper is available on the Wrexham website by clicking here.

The consultation period is runs until 9 January 2013 – so not long to get involved!

If this all makes no sense then it could be worth responding to the consultation as Q1 is “1. Do you understand how the changes to the Council Tax Reduction Scheme have been introduced by the devolution of responsibility to Welsh Government and the reduced funding available?”
