Community groups within West Wrexham can once again access up to £250 to help them with their activities until March 2013.

The West Wrexham Partnership, together with Wrexham Council’s Economic Development Department, will be overseeing the ‘Small Grants Scheme’ for community groups or potential groups within the area.

The scheme can fund projects that involve local people in their community and cover the following areas: Coedpoeth, Gwersyllt, Brymbo, Rhosrobin, Bradley, Brynteg, Moss, Summerhill, Pentre Broughton, Southsea, Lodge, Llay, New Broughton, Tanyfron, Caego and Pandy.

So far since April last year, over 40 groups have benefited from the scheme, including Brymbo Angling Club, Bradley Park Bowling Club, Coedpoeth History Society, 2nd Llay Scout Group and the Friends of Alyn Waters.

David Millington, chair of the West Wrexham Partnership, said:

“Grants of up to £250 are available and could make a real difference for local community groups.

“The grant can be used for setting up a new group, assisting with venue hire, publicity or used as match-funding to help groups to draw down larger sums of money from other grant schemes.

“Purchasing new equipment or hosting a community event could also be eligible, so I would encourage existing and potential groups to get in touch.”

For information about the grant scheme and an application form, or for advice on how to set up a new community group or activity, contact Wrexham Council’s West Wrexham Community Development Team on 01978 722995 or email [email protected]
