Coleg Cambria to host accessible autism-friendly talk and tour events in March

Coleg Cambria is inviting prospective students to a series of accessible ‘talk and tour’ events.

The college will hold sessions at its sites in Wrexham, Deeside and Northop aimed at potential learners who may find traditional, crowded open days and evenings quite intimidating or uncomfortable.

These events will be low-impact in a reduced sensory environment, and autism friendly, tailored to the interests of those in attendance.

Cambria’s learning support team will be on hand to answer any questions, and there will be the opportunity to look around innovative and cutting-edge new facilities including Deeside Sixth Form Centre and the new business school in Northop.

Chief Executive Yana Williams said: “Inclusivity and enrichment of students of all ages is paramount, as is making sure we are as accessible as possible to anyone who wants to come and find out more about Coleg Cambria.

“The events will be a great way to explore and discover the wide range of qualifications and apprenticeships we deliver, but they will also showcase our incredible facilities, our culture and the warmth and openness we demonstrate across all of our sites, nurturing independence and support.”

The events will be held on the following days:

Deeside: Wednesday March 18 – 5.30pm-6.30pm

Yale, Wrexham: Tuesday March 24 – 5.30pm-6.30pm

Northop: Wednesday March 25 – 5.30pm-6.30pm

Lizzie Stevens, Deputy Director for Additional Learning Needs, will give an informative talk at each session from 5.30pm, so attendees are advised to arrive early.
