A personal assistant at Coleg Cambria recently stepped up to a tackle a walking challenge in aid of Wales Air Ambulance,

Janice Bellis from Buckley, took on a 10,000 steps a day pledge to help fundraise for the college’s chosen charity for 2016-17, Wales Air Ambulance.

As part of her pledge, Janice vowed to put 50p in a jar if she completed 10,000 steps a day or £1 in if she didn’t manage the full 10,000 each day.

“Once I’d started completing the daily pledge my competitive spirit kicked in and I didn’t want any pounds in the jar,” said Janice.

“It was a tough pledge particularly as I sit at a desk for the majority of the day and had to complete the steps during the evening but all worthwhile knowing I was raising money for a great charity.”

Between August 2016 to July 2017, Janice undertook her promise and ensured that she completed her 10,000 a day target, walking a total of 4,069,540 steps and raising £182.50 with the grand total being £232 thanks to a generous contribution by colleagues.

Last week Wrexham.com reported that college has raised £89,000 for Wales Air Ambulance through its year of fundraising.
