Work to address the lack of coach parking for visitors in the town centre is ongoing, with discussions taking place over potential locations it could be sited.

Over the years there have been a number of requests to introduce a permanent coach parking facility in the town centre, with initial calls for the provision first raised back in 2013.

There has been a steady increase in coach trips to Wrexham in recent years, with a number expected to visit the town for the Victorian Christmas Market at the start of December.

The volume of coach trips to the town has increased over the past few years, with 68 visiting in 2016 alone. So far this year there have been 42 trips, however neither of these figures include the amount of coaches bringing people to and from the concerts at the Racecourse.

Footfall has also seen an increase in town, with hopes that Wrexham will be changed from an “emerging tourism hub” to a “functioning hub”.

Currently the drivers of the coaches have been parking in the loading bay at Eagles Meadow once the tourists have been dropped off on the High Street.

In August 2017 the subject was raised by Eagles Meadow manager, Kevin Critchley who noted that somewhere temporary will be needed for Christmas, but acknowledged that longer term Wrexham needs to address the lack of coach parking.

In an update at the Town Centre Forum earlier this week, Chairman of the Steering Group Sam Regan said: “We are working with the council to look at potential sites and there are surveys being done.

“We are looking at the best solution to the problem.”
