Cliff edge rescue of labrador in Holt

A black Labrador has been rescued by the RSPCA after becoming trapped in bushes on a steep cliff edge in Holt.

The animal welfare charity was alerted after the dog’s owner reported that her pet had become stranded at the spot by Bridge Street in Holt earlier this week.

Amid sweltering hot weather conditions the terrified dog was stuck on uneven ground and at risk of a dangerous fall.

RSPCA animal collection officer Fred Armstrong attended the scene, and was able to access the dog using a ladder, and safely place the dog in a seal bag before lowering the animal safely to the owner.

ACO Armstrong said: “We absolutely love a happy ending – and it was great to be able to save this dog from such a precarious position.

“This black Labrador was totally trapped in a bramble bush on a dangerous and steep cliff edge, adjacent to a river. We were really worried about what could have happened if the dog fell.

“Fortunately, the dog was accessed via ladders and brought to safety. A member of the public helped me out too, which we’re really grateful for.”
