Christmas will be arriving in the town centre with a festive bang this week, with a cracking extravaganza in store!

Huge crowds are expected to descend on the town centre on Saturday to take part in a day of yuletide activities and fun organised by Wrexham Council’s Events Team.

Branded a ‘Christmas Extravaganza’, between 11am and 4pm Queens Square will be packed with stalls, children’s rides, choirs singing carols, free land train trips, photo opportunities with the children’s characters and a giant Christmas snow globe!

There will also be a parade at 11am, which will be led by a marching band, Father Christmas himself and his reindeer, along with some ‘well-known characters’ from children’s TV shows.

For those planning on watching the parade or even following it through town, a route can be found below:

The parade will begin at Queens Square and travel along Lord Street, Duke Street, Regent Street, Hope Street and Queens Street. It will then stop on Queens Square for the grand opening of Santa’s Grotto.

As Wrexham.com reported earlier this week, Santa’s Grotto is this year based on Queens Square next to the town’s Christmas Tree. The past couple of years the Grotto has been based in the Peoples Market, however for obvious reasons due to the building work taking place at the site, this is not possible this year!

Santa’s Grotto will be open Monday – Saturday up until Saturday 23rd December between 11am and 4pm. Tickets are £4.50 and are available from the Tourist Information Centre on Queens Square.

There will also be FREE parking in all council-owned car parks on Saturday and throughout December. So no excuses not to pop-along and get into the Christmas spirit as it is December TOMORROW!
