Plans to convert a former electronics store into a charity shop have been submitted.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council permission is being sought to install fascia and hanging signs for the charity Sue Ryder – which provides palliative, neurological and bereavement support – on unit nine on Island Green.

It will be amongst more than 450 of the charity’s shops across the country.

The store itself was home to Maplin, which closed earlier this year after the company collapsed into administration.

Details provided in the planning documents state that the signage will be in place from the 20th November 2018 until 19th November 2023.

The change of use to a charity shop means that Island Green will once again nearly at full occupancy, with just the former TK Maxx remaining empty.

The plans will be considered for approval at a later date.
