A friendly match between Wrexham Police FC and ‘Talking Toffees’ has raised £200 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The fixture against the local community side and Everton FC podcasters took place in Wrexham on Sunday 3 September.

In an entertaining and high-scoring contest, the police side ran out 6-4 winners on the day.

Organiser, Sgt Dave Smith said: “It was a really end-to-end match, and the heat made it challenging for both teams.

“But it was all played in the right spirit. The Talking Toffees team are a great bunch and a lot of new friendships have been made, so a rematch is definitely on the cards.

“Collectively we’re really happy with the funds raised for Alder Hey – a brilliant hospital that provides vital care for young patients across the North West and North Wales.

“We’re grateful for all the online messages of support we had from former Everton players, like Kev Ratcliffe, Kev Sheedy, Neville Southall, Barry Horne, Tony Cottee who all helped us promote the match.

“We’d also really like to thank the Events Medical Team for their continued support and expert medical care at our charity matches.”
