Car Set Alight in Late Night Arson Attack

A vehicle has been damaged after it was set alight by arsonists late last night.

Shortly after 11:30pm last night North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a car fire involving a grey Vauxhall Vectra on Bersham Road, Wrexham.

One crew from Wrexham attended the scene and one hose reel jet and breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the blaze.

The vehicle was left with 10% fire damage as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson confirmed the cause of the blaze was deliberate ignition.

The owner of the car told Wrexham.com that she was alerted to the fire by a neighbour, who said she saw two men in balaclavas in the area.

She added: “I instantly rang the first brigade they were fab and came with in a few minutes. We spoke to the lady that knocked on our door and she was walking from the Co-op in Hightown back to her house on Empress Road and she said she seen a tall guy and small guy with balaclavas walking towards Hightown area.

“Please if anyone saw anything strange around Bersham Road, Empress Road and Hightown Co-op please contact the police as there is far too much arson happening lately and we need to catch the vile creatures that do these terrible things.”

North Wales Police were also called to the scene at 11:37pm following reports a grey Vauxhall Vectra had been set alight.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police could not confirm the reports of men seen in balaclavas.
