Wrexham Town Centre was brought to a standstill this afternoon with resurfacing works causing long delays for motorists.

Roadworks around the B&Q roundabout have caused traffic problems through the day – however once rush hour kicked in, traffic around the Wrexham became a nightmare for road users.

The long delays across the town are as a result of resurfacing works taking place near the B&Q roundabout. As a result of the roadworks, other routes across the town quickly became congested as motorists tried to find alternative routes.

As a result traffic on Mold Road, Plas Coch Road and Berse Road was heavier that normal – with the image featured above showing traffic around the area at a standstill and now backing up across town.

Wrexham.com queried Wrexham Council about the road issues around B&Q, Ruthin Road and other areas, Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, told us: “Due to works on Watery Road and by the B & Q roundabout drivers are taking other routes which are bringing them onto the A525 causing congestion such as occurred this morning.

“Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible or to expect delays if they cannot use another route. Highways Officers have been in discussion with local members and the Community Council to resolve traffic flows in this area.”

The works are ongoing, and we are told could last ‘for the next couple of weeks’.

Emily has been in touch with Wrexham.com to say it took her half an hour to make her way through the traffic this afternoon, with another reader in touch to say it is taking around 20 minutes to even exit the Hospital car park.

Another told us that they were stuck in the Wrexham Maelor car park for over half an hour, with traffic backing up from B&Q roundabout through to Croesnewydd Road.

When Wrexham.com attended the Glyndwr Open Day the traffic was queued up from the B&Q roundabout through to Mold Road due to the road being down to one lane.

Earlier this afternoon Cllr Paul Rogers tweeted Wrexham.com to say: “Absolute traffic chaos around B&Q roundabout @wrexham due to resurfacing works. Will be raising with @wrexhamcbc.”

Other motorists have since been in touch with Wrexham.com to comment on the situation:
