Bowling greens, rural toilets and play facilities face closure unless Community Councils and Groups agree to take them over.

Last August Community Councils were consulted on a variety of options regarding the future management of rural toilets, play facilities and bowling greens in their wards.

Consultation on the various issues that arose from this process have progressed over the last 7 months and have now been completed.

Many of the Community Councils in the area have agreed to fund maintenance costs, along with the inspection of play facilities and bowling greens for the next 12 months.

Along with this a small number of Community Councils have stated that they would take over the management and care of play areas from April 1st of this year.

Two community groups, the Parciau Bowling Club at Bellevue Park and the Cunliffe Bowling Club at Acton Park, would like to take over the management and maintenance of the bowling greens and surrounding shrub beds.

Along with this, Rhos Community Council and Overton Community Council have stated they would like to take over the management of the public toilets in their villages.

Speaking on Tuesday, Council Leader Neil Rogers said: “It is important these facilities are regularly checked. People value these facilities.”
