Sportsmen and women in a local bowling club have found a way to say thank you to a local
Hospice that has touched the lives of several members and their families.

Players in the Bradley Bowling Club raised a bumper £500 for Nightingale House through their annual, Winter League, pairs bowling competition.

The generous donation is not the first for the Gwersyllt based club, which, five years ago was simply a derelict building, as each year members hold a charity match to show their appreciation for local causes.

This year’s event saw outstanding support with Leighton and Keiron Roberts taking home the winning title.

Following the heart-stopping thrills of the match, members gathered in the club house to present a cheque to Hospice fundraiser, Sam Eastwood.

Ian ‘Sam’ Roberts, Club Vice President, said: “Our annual charity match is always the highlight of our calendar and this year, everyone got involved making it a fantastic and successful event.

“Nightingale House is a charity close to so many of our hearts and our aim was to make as much money as possible for them.

“To be able to give them £500 is a reflection of the great club spirit we have here at Bradley Bowling Club and we hope to raise even more in next year’s match.”

Sam Eastwood, Hospice Fundraiser, added: “We are so grateful to Bradley Bowling Club for raising this incredible amount of money, which will enable us to provide vital care and support for families affected by life-limiting illnesses.

“We are very lucky here at Nightingale House to have the ongoing support of the community we serve and it’s because of events like this that we can continue our important work across North Wales. Our congratulations go to the winners of the match and our deepest thanks go to everyone who took part, donated raffle prizes and helped to organise the event.”
