Appeal after three individuals target home of 98-year-old woman in “sickening burglary”
An appeal has been launched following a “sickening burglary” which saw three men target the home of an elderly lady.
The shocking incident took place at around 11:30pm last night (Wednesday 15 September) at an address on Camberley Drive in Wrexham.
Three individuals entered the property and conducted an “untidy search”, throwing furniture around in the attempt to find valuable items.
The occupant, a 98-year-old woman, was in the home at the time and confronted them after hearing the noise.
Police say a “brief confrontation” took place and the three individuals fled the scene.
The lady, whilst shocked was not hurt in this incident; however this will no doubt have some physiological impact.
Wrexham Town Inspector Luke Hughes is now urging anyone in the area who has CCTV or witnessed any suspicious activity to get in touch.
He said: “Can I appeal for anyone with CCTV in that area to check their cameras, I’m looking for three adults, likely male, at around 23:30hrs.
“I suspect they would have parked a vehicle nearby and so if you have seen or have any footage of vehicles acting suspiciously or at speed in this area around that time I need to know.
“Also if you know who is responsible. We need to know.
“In way of a message to the offenders, I am absolutely shocked and appalled that this disgusting offence took place. How dare you prey on an elderly victim in this way, you need to know that we will do all that we possibly can to locate you and ensure you get the appropriate justice.
“You should be ashamed of yourselves.”
Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area or has CCTV footage is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101 or via the police webchat facility quoting 21000644375
