A5 Closed For 24 Hours: Bridge Barrier Repairs After Collision

A section of the A5 is closed this evening and will be for ‘all of tomorrow’ for repairs to crash barriers – believed to be near to the bridge over the River Ceiriog.

Update 9:40pm: The Ambulance Service confirm they were called to the incident at 6:43pm. A woman was cut free from a vehicle by the Fire Service, her injuries were not thought to be life threatening. There are no other reported injured parties as of yet.

We are told the fire service have now left the scene.

Update 8:26pm: Police have said the road will be closed all tonight – and all of tomorrow (Tuesday).

There is unconfirmed reports the incident may have involved a car and a lorry.

Update 7:55pm: Police have said: “RTC on A5 between Halton and Gledrid roundabouts. Repairs needed on the barriers, road will be closed for approx. 2 hours.Avoid area if poss ”

Update: One fire appliance has been mobilised from Oswestry who are assisting North Wales Fire and Rescue. Fire crews are helping free one person who has been trapped after a crash.

Emergency services were called at 6:45pm.

We are told traffic is ‘at a standstill’ this evening after an incident on the A5 south of Chirk.

Kevin got in touch to say: “A483 Halton to Gledrid at a standstill, big accident”.
